“Tough Competition”
Davis K. Powers
Race Report
SCCA Solo, SWVR Chapter
September 17th, 2006

There was some very close competition at the September Solo event.  The course was really a challenge as there was a high-speed chicane, and also a very low-speed pivot turn. Both can be frustrating, but rewarding if executed correctly.
With one run left to go, I made the last-minute  decision to stiffen the dampening on my HKS coilover suspension. Increased grip for the high-speed corners proved to be exactly what I needed, and the new setup worked perfectly. I dropped enough time on the final lap to secure a winning finish over a hard-charging modified Corvette. In the end, I won my Street-Mod class by 1.1 seconds and got overall  “Fastest Time of the Day” by just 0.1 seconds. Click here to download complete article

Skuttle Motorsports Earns Coveted HKS Sponsorship

( Marietta, OH, April 6, 2005)

Skuttle Motorsports is proud to introduce its new primary sponsor, HKS. Since its founding in 1973, HKS has been a leader in producing integrated, reliable, environmentally-sound performance systems for high performance vehicles. The manufacturer’s commitment to excellence has earned the respect of auto racing enthusiasts worldwide.

“I’m thrilled to carry the HKS name,” says Davis K. Powers, driver for Skuttle Motorsports in his 2004 Subaru WRX STi. “HKS is synonymous with winning performance, and is a perfect fit for what we hope to accomplish in the 2005 SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) Solo2 season and beyond.”

For more than a quarter century, HKS-equipped vehicles have captured racing records and championships around the globe. Powers, racing since 1993 in both Sweden and the U.S., has proven his racing prowess, as well. In 2004, Powers won the A-stock championship among competitors in the Charleston, West Virginia, region. This season, he has taken the leap into the ultra-competitive SCCA Solo2 Street-Modified class, starting the year with a FTD (fastest time of the day) overall victory.

Powers is IT Manager and Webmaster for Skuttle Indoor Air Quality Products, namesake of Skuttle Motorsports. To download this article in a printer-friendly format (PDF), please click here
